The audition process for the upcoming film Superman: Legacy is intensifying, indicating that DC is actively searching for new actors to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
Gear up, DC fans, as the insiders at Deadline have reported that in-person screen tests for the roles will begin soon.
According to insiders at Deadline, the screen tests will involve Warner Bros executives, DC co-heads Peter Safran, and the film’s writer-director, Gunn. The tests are expected to occur around Father’s Day weekend or the following Monday or Tuesday.
Earlier reports suggested that several actors are being considered for the roles of Superman and Lois Lane. Tom Brittney, David Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult are among the actors being considered for Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan, Samara Weaving, Phoebe Dynevor, and Emma Mackey are considered for the role of Lois Lane.
DC’s co-CEO, Peter Safran, stated that Henry Cavill will not appear in the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which will focus on a younger version of the superhero “balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.” Sources suggest that the studio plans to center the plot on a group of characters in their 20s living in Metropolis.
However, there are rumors that Rachel Brosnahan, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed show Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, delivered an “outstanding” audition for the part of Lois Lane.
“I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice,” she joked about it during her interview on The View when the hosts questioned her about the same rumors. “Look, it would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, far from a damsel in distress, and I would jump at the chance if it arose.”
The casting decisions for roles such as Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen are expected to be made after the roles of Superman and Lois Lane are filled. The film will be directed by James Gunn, who has garnered a strong reputation in the superhero genre for directing all three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Suicide Squad.
