The popular Stranger Things franchise is expanding with a new animated series set in the same universe thanks to Netflix. At this point very little is known about the show, though it has been revealed that it was developed by Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions. Variety reports Robles’ previous creations of hit animated shows such as Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Glitch Techs.
The animated series will be executive produced by the creators of Stranger Things, The Duffer brothers, through their production company, Upside Down Pictures. According to Variety, they are joined by Robles and Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps, who are also under overall deals at Netflix.

The Duffer brothers expressed their delight about creating an animated version of Stranger Things in a statement. They admitted that they always envisioned an animated version of the show, reminiscent of the beloved Saturday morning cartoons they watched as kids. Commending Robles and his team, the Duffer brothers stated that the scripts and artwork were incredible, promising fans more adventures in the world of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things remains one of Netflix’s most popular original series, becoming a global phenomenon since its 2016 premiere. The show was renewed for a fifth and final season in February 2022.
Plans for both a live-action spinoff series and a stage show had been announced by Netflix in July 2022, which would be executive produced by the Duffer brothers through their production company, Upside Down Pictures. Since then however, there have been no specific details revealed about the live-action spinoff, although the Duffers stressed that it will not revolve around the star characters Eleven or Steve Harrington.

It was announced in March 2023 that the stage show would be set in Hawkins in 1959 and premiere in London’s West End.
