Liverpool Hijacked Manchester United’s bid to land talented Dutch winger Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven. Cody’s price tag was expected to sky rocket after his exploits in the Fifa Worldcup 2022 in Qatar where he bagged 3 goals in 5 appearances before the Netherlands were knocked out by Argentina, who later went on to win the tournament. Manchester United had shown interest in Gakpo in the summer, where they had a verbal agreement with the player with no official bid from the club to PSV.

Liverpool FC is a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. The club is one of the most successful and popular football clubs in the world, with a large and dedicated fan base. There was news that Liverpool were in advanced talks with PSV for the transfer of Cody Gakpo given the injury situation of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz who are sidelined for a longer period. But the news coming late in the night from PSV has surprised many with how quickly the deal has been agreed. The transfer fee is said to be between £35m and £45m.

PSV and @LFC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.

The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.

Transfer window will open on Sunday January 1st of 2023 for clubs in England & Scotland, if things go smooth with paperwork, Gakpo could have his Liverpool debut on January 2nd, when Liverpool is set to take on Brentford in the Premier League.

Loius Van Gaal spoke highly of Cody in the worldcup saying “Gakpo has everything it takes to be a star”. And the striker certainly looks like the real deal if you look at his club performances with PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie which he continued in Qatar with the national team also. Scoring a goal in each of the group stage games, proving his appetite and versatility for the big stage.

These stats and his quality has not come from luck, Cody is very strict with his development, hiring a personal coach to help analyze his game. Which is also a reason why his game is improving with each passing day. This might have also intrigued Klopp and Liverpool to go for him included with his goals/assists tally in the Eredivisie, making him a lucrative investment.

Cody Gakpo possesses pace, power, creativity and precision in his shooting. He is the top chance creator in the Eredivisie, while also being a constant aerial threat and good with dribbling as he showed against the teams he faced in the league and in the Worldcup also.

He has all the attributes that managers & clubs look for in a modern day forward. And after his brilliant display at the Qatar Worldcup, he became one of the most talked young talents in the world and many clubs must have been interested in signing him, with Liverpool Fc winning the race for his signature.

    Liverpool  – background

FC was founded in 1892 and has a rich history of success on the pitch, having won numerous domestic and international titles. The club has won the English top-flight league title (also known as the Premier League) a record 19 times, and has also won the European Cup/Champions League six times, making it one of the most successful clubs in European football.

In addition to its on-field success, Liverpool FC is known for its passionate and loyal fans, who are known for creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere at home matches at the club’s stadium, Anfield. The club has a strong rivalry with fellow English club Manchester United, and matches between the two teams are known as the “North West Derby.”

Overall, Liverpool FC is popular for its long history of success on the pitch, its passionate and loyal fan base, and its strong rivalry with other major football clubs.
