According to a new fan trailer, Harrison Ford will be leading the MCU’s villain squad in Thunderbolts. When Marvel Studios’ second Phase begins production in 2023, it will be deeper into the Multiverse Saga. New teams are being brought to life in the MCU franchise, even as variants and parallel worlds remain a major focus. The Thunderbolts finally have their own Marvel Cinematic Universe film after years of teasing, but it will focus on a different squad. Even though Thunderbolts won’t be released until the conclusion of Phase Five, the project’s greenlight was one of Marvel Studios’ biggest pieces of news in 2022.
Even though production has not yet begun, fans have already started speculating how the MCU would interpret the Thunderbolts. Screen Culture has released a new fan trailer for Thunderbolts, giving an even clearer picture of what this team-up could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the Thunderbolts fan teaser definitely uses archival material from other Marvel Cinematic Universe productions, it serves more as a concept proof for the crew.
Overview of the expectations for MCU Thunderbolts Film
The Thunderbolts movie is being kept under wraps with the same secrecy as the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even so, Marvel Studios has officially announced who will be in the ensemble film. The character of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, will play a significant role in the Thunderbolts’ story. Morally ambiguous heroes Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), and David Harbour (Red Guardian) will also star in Thunderbolts. Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), and Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster) are all returning villains who will be appearing in the film.
Ford replaces the late William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: New World Order. In the film starring Anthony Mackie, he will make his debut before returning to Thunderbolts just two short months later. Many fans believe Ross will ultimately transform into the Red Hulk in the film, given he has significant comic book ties to the group and has been rumored to do so. However, time will tell if that actually occurs. Thunderbolts may or may not feature other Marvel Cinematic Universe villains or antiheroes
