When Primal and Prime meet, they may have plenty to discuss, assuming they don’t fight each other.
Paramount has released a fresh clip showcasing the meeting of two renowned Optimuses – Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and Optimus Primal (voiced by Ron Perlman) – in “Rise of the Beasts.” But the encounter doesn’t just involve the colossal bots; there’s a multitude of Autobots and Maximals, the animalistic machines debuting in the movie.
Noah (Anthony Ramos) and Elena (Dominique Fishback) are caught amidst the mechanical war, two humans fighting to survive. Joining Optimus Primal on the Maximal side are Rhinox (voiced by David Sobolov), who transforms into a rhino, and Cheetor (voiced by Tongayi Chrisia), a Maximal that turns into a cheetah.
Director Steven Caple Jr.’s latest film packs more moving parts than ever as the bots morph into the great beasts of Earth’s forests and jungles.

Caple Jr. takes charge of the Transformers franchise’s new direction, characterized by its chest-thumping energy and based on the ’90s Beast Wars cartoon. The upcoming movie, Rise of the Beasts, revealed in its official trailer, takes the audience on a journey from the streets of Brooklyn to the magnificent ancient city of Machu Picchu, Peru.
In addition to Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and the aforementioned voice actors, a talented ensemble joins the movie to voice the new machines, such as Michelle Yeoh, who portrays Maximal Airazor (transforms into a peregrine falcon), and Pete Davidson, who voices the Autobot Mirage (transforms into a Porsche 964 Carrera).
Rise of the Beasts introduces the Maximals and Predacons, some of the most nefarious beasts. The movie delves into how these ancient but elusive factions fit into the ongoing Autobots and Decepticons war while unraveling new truths about Autobots’ connection to Earth’s origins.
And that’s not all; the film also features the Terrorcons, a Decepticon sub-group that transforms into metallic monsters.
The good news for those who are not well-versed in Michael Bay’s previous Transformers movies is that Rise of the Beasts takes place before any of them. Hence, one can enjoy the cinematic extravaganza without any prior knowledge of the history of these battling metallic extraterrestrials.
Joining the cast are Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Dinklage, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Cristo Fernández.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
